
Simple Segmented Turned Bowl

Love wood turning? Have you wanted to attempt segmented turning but just wanted some guidance and help? This class is perfect for woodworkers looking to expand their lathe and woodturning skills beyond simple bowls and spindles. Whether working with a single species or looking to use up those myriads of scraps in the shop, you’ll create a one of a kind segmented bowl that is simple and elegant.
In this hands-on class, you will design and make a simple segmented bowl. Choose to create the provided example or modify the example for a unique twist. You'll learn essential techniques such as gluing segments, assembling rings, and finally the techniques to shape and turn a segmented bowl. Segments will be processed using a wedgie sled on the table saw where you have the flexibility to adjust segment lengths with ease to create larger or smaller diameters. Rings will be flattened using a drum sander. Other segment processing methods will be discussed. Other tips for segmented turning will be addressed as needed.
