Scroll Saw Bowl
Tuesdays 6-8 pm August 12, 19, 26
In this hands-on class you will make a utility catch-all bowl out of a species of your choice to keep. Using a single three quarter inch piece of wood, you will learn how to make a round or oval tapered side bowl. Whether you are a novice or expert, you will learn how to cut and stack rings to create a layered effect out of one piece. This class is perfect for woodworkers and makers to take their scroll saw abilities to the next level by making a continuous angled round cut to free the required pieces. The laser engraver will be used to etch the required pattern for cutting.
You will learn essential techniques such as preparing/squaring stock, drilling angled holes (for blade access), cutting on an angle, sanding angles on the belt/spindle, and stack gluing to produce your artifact. The skills and the information gained by the class can be applied to other aspects of woodworking.
By the end of the workshop, you will have a one of a kind wooden bowl that is made from a single piece of wood.
