
Intro to Woodturning Bowls
Ever wanted to make your own wooden salad bowl from a beautiful piece of wood? At the NJ School of Woodwork , we have all the tools you need to learn to turn your first bowl.
The listed hours for the class (5-9pm)are flexible. Our instructor Bob is retired and can work with you on scheduling your class. Book a class and he will contact you to coordinate schedules.

The safe operation of the Lathe
The tools used and how to safely use them
Wood selection
Wet vs dry wood
Design elements
Mounting a bowl on a lathe.
Turning the bottom, foot and rim of the bowl.
Reverse chucking the bowl to turn and finish the top of bowl.
How to apply a food grade finish
This course will provide the student with the basic knowledge of safe turning techniques which are the building blocks for a host of other project
